Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) Hits Salt Lake City

The original and preeminent exhibition of fly fishing cinema, The F3T is a one of a kind experience. Each year fishy folk of all ages gather in big cities and small towns alike to soak up films from around the world, spin a few yarns amongst friends and dream about casts yet unmade. In our 12th annual lap around the globe, the 2019 Fly Fishing Film Tour will make its way to theaters in more than 175 cities in eight countries.

This year Salt Lake City will have two screenings on Saturday February 23rd @ The Depot (13 N 400 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84101)

All Ages Screening is at 4:00PM and there is a 21+ screening starting at 8:00PM

Tickets are available at Fishwest Fly Shop for both screenings for $15.00. We urge you to get your tickets in advance by stopping in the shop. This event will sell out if past years attendance are any indication.  Call the shop at 801.617.1225 for more info!

Below you will find a few trailers for the 2019 edition of F3T. If you aren’t stoked for that… We don’t know what to say!

Glorious Bastards:

Australia is world famous for its natural wonders and wide open spaces, its beaches, deserts, “the bush”, “the Outback” and the Barrier Reef. Slowly becoming a world wide “Bucket List” fly fisherman’s dream destination. Yet still there are so many untouched or unknown fly fishing adventures to be had around this amazing continent. Follow the Capt Jack Productions team as we explore the wild and untouched terrain of Australia.

Where It All Started:

Karlie Roland learned to fish on the Henry’s Fork river in Idaho. Her family has a cabin in Island Park and they’ve been going there since the early 80s. Last fall she took a job at Trouthunter Lodge and returned to the river where it all started. The new gig and her move back to Island Park represents a homecoming of sorts for Karlie. She’ll be the first to tell you that the Henry’s Fork feels like home.

Movements:

MOVEMENTS is the symphonic saga – in four parts (RAINBOW, STEELHEAD, MUSKY, STRIPER) – of three Alaska fishing guides who road trip their way home in a 2003 Dodge Caravan (best known as ‘Van-a White’ and for its lack of a reverse gear) from AK to NYC. From an Alaskan paradise to a literal Gomorrah in four short weeks – arriving in Time Square on Halloween night – MOVEMENTS is a stunning 14-minute showcase of what North America has to offer in terms of its diverse beauty and angling opportunities, and an invitation to rediscover where and why we fell in love with fly fishing in the first place.

JC

I grew up in the shadow of some of the most heralded ski slopes in the western United States. Instead of skiing or snowboarding I took up fly fishing at a young age. Through high school & my early college years I was fortunate enough to represent my country playing Sled Hockey. I started at Fishwest as a member of the web team and now I oversee and manage almost every aspect of the Fishwest e-commerce platform. I also act as the main point of contact for all of the Fishwest hosted travel trips.
