Fishwest joins AFFTA (American Fly Fishing Trade Association) as well as other manufacturers, guides, and outfitters in support of the Bristol Bay Defense Fund

Sandy, Utah (July 24, 2019) – Fishwest is teaming up with AFFTA as well as other fly shops, manufacturers, guides, outfitters, lodges and more industry professionals from around the country in support together for “A Day for Bristol Bay” to raise much-needed funding for the Bristol Bay Defense Fund – the front-line group that is going toe-to-toe in D.C. with the foreign mining interests behind the mine.

The fly fishing community has been fighting for over a decade to keep Pebble Mine from devastating Bristol Bay and the fisheries that sustain 14,000 jobs, a $1.5 billion dollar annual economic engine, native communities and a world-class destination to fly fish.

How to get involved:

Stop by Fishwest Fly Shop or Fishwest.com on August 24th, and pick up the gear you need (see the list of participating retailers.) A portion of the days sales will be donated to the AFFTA Fisheries Fund and 100% of the proceeds will be sent on behalf of the fly fishing industry to the Bristol Bay Defense Fund.

I grew up in the shadow of some of the most heralded ski slopes in the western United States. Instead of skiing or snowboarding I took up fly fishing at a young age. Through high school & my early college years I was fortunate enough to represent my country playing Sled Hockey.
