It’s Better in the Bahamas: Bahamas Travel Requirements Update

The Fishwest staff is excited to announce that we will be returning with guests to the Andros South Lodge for our 10th season. Our guests and staff have enjoyed this fishery and its surroundings for many years now and are looking forward to sharing it with you. Our 10th trip is taking shape now and spots are filling up fast! Contact us for more details on our 2021 adventure.

Below is an update from our partners, Deneki Outdoors about the most recent updates to the travel requirements for visiting the Bahamas. Like everything these days, this situation is always evolving so contact us for more information.

In all the chaos that 2020 has brought us, it is nice to hear a bit of good news! Slowly & safely, the Bahamas will be moving into the third phase of the ‘Tourism Readiness & Recovery Plan’ starting on October 15th. Major hotels & beaches will be allowed to re-open on all islands with excursions resuming operations on November 1st. Commercial flights between islands have resumed as well starting on September 9th.

What does that mean for Andros South? All guests at this time are still required to have an approved health visa through travel.gov.bs at least 72 hours ahead of their travel date. In addition, guests must present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test that must be taken no more than 5 days before your date of travel. You may travel through Nassau and overnight if necessary, however, we recommend traveling directly to Congo Town from Florida, to simplify the travel process. Visit Makers Air  for more details on direct flights to Congotown (COX) which serves as the closest airport to the lodge.

Once in the Bahamas, guests are required to “vacation in place”, remaining on the property for 14 days or the length of your stay, whichever is shorter. As always, remaining diligent to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is pertinent for our guests, staff & communities. Please remember to wear a mask, wash your hands frequently & social distance whenever possible.
